Why Porterra?
Porterra Travel trips are always loads of fun and value priced. We don't have the overhead of other travel companies... no fancy offices or big glossy color brochures... so we can pass those savings on to you. Value means affordability, but it doesn't mean we skimp on quality. Whether we're canoeing on the Delaware, horseback riding in the Andes in Colombia or touring a vineyard in the Portuguese countryside you can be confident that you will be well taken care of.
Porterra Travel - A different kind of group travel.
We have been hosting "Pub Crawls" for over 15 years. And despite the name, they're not all about drinking... well I guess that depends on who you ask! Our trips are very laid back and friendly, perfect for the first time traveler or the seasoned independent minded explorer. You get the security, peace of mind and camaraderie of traveling with a group and knowing that all the details have been taken care of, but you also get the flexibility of going off and doing your own thing. Our hotel becomes a home base for exploring the countryside and a meeting place to catch up and compare notes with your new found traveling friends.
These are trips of a lifetime! Hand picked destinations that offer all the romance and excitement Europe has to offer. Take it at your own pace... fast or slow, sightseeing by day and dancing by night, or relaxing in an open air cafe and enjoying a quiet dinner... it's totally up to you. Most tours will offer one or two optional day trips, usually with an epicurean focus; wineries, breweries, distilleries, vineyards and restaurants. Or we may visit a prominent historic site. Airfare, taxes, fuel surcharges and departure fees are always included. As are breakfasts daily, all transfers by private coach in the destination country, hotels and a guided orientation of the city. Larry (or a Porterra Travel representative) accompanies you on all the trips to make sure your stay goes as planned so you can relax and enjoy your travel experience. We fly together as a group and everything is taken care of end to end. All you need to do is show up and have fun!
Experience the culture and cuisine of a new travel destination while enjoying local brews and wines and making lifelong friends.
So far all of our South American travel has been to Colombia. It's a beautiful and diverse country the size of Texas and California combined. With two coastlines, the Andes Mountain range and the Amazon River basin there is no lack of places to see and things to do. Stay tuned for future trips to Peru and Ecuador.
Colombia is a real up and coming destination. It has the fastest growing and most stable economy in South America. The government has been investing heavily in infrastructure, and the kidnappings and drug cartels of the 80's and 90's are ancient history. When visiting Colombia you can feel the energy and excitement. People are happy, education is accessible and opportunity abounds. In the cities there is electricity in the air. That's not to say that everything is perfect, but it certainly seems to be headed I the right direction. Tourism is on the rise and now is the time to discover the real Colombia. Our trips are very laid back and friendly, perfect for the first time traveler or the seasoned independent minded explorer.
