Detailed Itinerary:March 23, Saturday, Departure and arrival in Havana
Transportation from the Easton Park and Ride will be available for an additional cost. Departure from Easton TBD. Flying JetBlue JFK to HAV non-stop direct. Flight 243 depart JFK 10:20am arrive HAV 2:05 pm Welcome lunch at a local paladar. Transfer to your B&B. Welcome yoga session will be conducted at your B&B or nearby park. Enjoy a welcome dinner at Paladar San Cristoal. This is one of Havana’s best serving typical Cuban cuisine. Special guest will be Yoga Master Eduardo Pimentel Vazquez. After dinner time to enjoy walking around old Havana. Option to arrange for a drive through Havana in a classic car or visit a local Latin jazz club, additional minimal fees apply. Overnight in a privately owned Casa Particular (B&B) March 24, Sunday, Havana Please Note: Breakfast will be provided daily during your stay in Cuba. Morning meditation and yoga class will be conducted at your B&B or nearby park. Enjoy a walking tour of the historic center of Old Havana, a village founded in 1519 and declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1982. Lunch on your own while you explore Old Town Havana. After lunch depart for a visit to the city of Regla. Visit the church of Nuestra Señora de Regla, one of Cuba’s most frequented pilgrimage churches. The most impressive is the statute of the Virgin of Regla who is black and cradles a white infant in her arms. She is the patron and protector of sailors. and the goddess of the sea in the Yoruba and Santeria religions. Visit the Municipal Museum of Regla. Dinner on your own in Havana. Overnight in a privately owned Casa Particular (B&B) March 25, Monday, Havana-Varadero-Matanzas Havana-Varadero – (2 ½ hours) – Via Guines Morning meditation and yoga class will be conducted at your B&B or nearby park. This morning the delegation will have a welcome orientation to Cuba on behalf of the staff at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with People in conjunction with our local team at the Casa de la Amistad. This morning we'll visit an organic food growing cooperative. The project’s strengths include its ability to aid in ensuring food availability in an urban setting. Lunch and cooking class will be provided at Jardin de los Milagros Private Restaurant. After lunch we'll head to our hotel in the beach town of Varadero with a stop at Guines on the way. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Las Palmas Hotel Varadero March 26, Tuesday, Varadero Morning meditation and yoga class will be conducted by the pool at your hotel. This morning your tour guide will take on a stroll along the Hicacos Peninsula for a sightseeing tour of the resort town of Varadero. The program includes first a panoramic tour to see the hotels, the Varadero Museum, the Josone Park, the Al Capone’s House (Casa del Al) which has been converted to a restaurant. Time to shop at the large craft market and also visit local art galleries. Lunch on your own. After lunch we'll have some more time to shop at the large craft market and also visit local art galleries. This is a great opportunity to meet the locals and learn from the shopkeepers about the new private business sector. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Las Palmas Hotel Varadero March 27, Wednesday, Varadero-Cardenas-Havana Varadero-Cardenas-Havana – 94miles – 2 ½ hours. Morning meditation and yoga class will be conducted by the pool at your hotel. Early departure for Cárdenas a maritime port town on the Bay of Cárdenas, sheltered by a long promontory (Hicacos peninsula, including the Varadero beach resort). The city lies between the sea and hills. It's a pretty colonial style town with mostly narrow streets, various squares (including the Plaza de Colón, with a bronze statue of Columbus given to the city by Queen Isabella II.and erected in 1862) and substantial and elegant business and public buildings, including the ornate parish church designed by Architect Rafael Carrerá, who also built the famous Palacio Aldama in Central Havana. Next we'll make a visit to the Rosa Luxemburg Neurological Development Rehabilitation Center, founded in 2002. We will get an inside glimpse of this fantastic center and learn how it has changed the lives of thousands of people. Continue on a visit to ACAA – the Cuban Association of Artisans & Artists of Cardenas. The center’s aim is the rescue and promotion of traditional crafts creation. After meeting with staff members for a little Q & A exchange, the association will host a special lunch for us. On the way back to our B&B in Havana we'll make a brief stop at Ediciones Vijias Book Store in Matanzas for a look at this very unique shop. Dinner on your own in Havana. Overnight in a privately owned Casa Particular (B&B) March 28, Thursday, Havana Morning meditation and yoga class will be conducted at your B&B or nearby park. This morning visit the Hemingway Museum located in his former residence on the outskirts of the city. We'll make a lunch stop at El Ranchon paladar for a taste of some very local cooking on our way to Fusterlandia, a crazy ceramic and tile complex located in a small coastal neighborhood west of Havana, led by the famous Cuban painter and ceramist Jose Fuster. Afterwards get ready for your dancing class at one of Havana’s best dance schools specializing in salsa lessons based out of El Salón Chévere, a popular dance club in Parque Almendares. Ayayaye!!! Share your memories of Cuba at a farewell dinner at La Casa Paladar. One of the oldest and best Paladars in Cuba. Overnight in a privately owned Casa Particular (B&B) March 29, Friday, Havana-USA Today you bid farewell to Cuba, “The Pearl of the Antilles” Transfer to the airport for departure.
