Join the Wellsboro House brewmaster Rob Kathcart and his lovely wife Pam and the rest of the Wellsboro house gang for four nights in downtown Edinburgh and three nights in the highly rated Palace Hotel in Inverness, with stops at Urqhuart Castle on Loch Ness and the Dalwhinnie distillery on the way from Edinburgh to Inverness. And stops in the west coast town of Oban and the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond on the way back. From our centrally located hotels you'll have free time to explore the towns and their surroundings... Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials., or just relax and unwind in a cozy pub.
$2249 includes direct non-stop flights to Edinburgh and back, all air taxes and fuel surcharges, all transfers between airports and hotels in Scotland, five nights downtown Edinburgh, a half day city tour of Edinburgh upon arrival, three nights in the beautiful Palace Hotel in Inverness with plenty of free time to explore the city, breakfasts daily, Urqhuart Castle, Dalwhinnie and Oban Distillery and Loch Lomond visits and a pre departure meeting and orientation before we go. Prices are based on double occupancy. There is a single supplement fee of $449. Airport departure taxed and fuel surcharges are included but subject to change until time of booking, To make things easier we'll charter a bus and split the cost for the round trip between Wellsboro/Easton and the Airport. There has been a castle here at least since Roman times. So much rich history and culture to soak up... not to mention the best Scotch selection in the world. We'll stop at the Dalwhinnie Distillery and Urquhart Castle on our way from Edinburgh to Inverness. On the way back from Inverness we'll drive through the Scottish Highlands to the west coast fishing town of Oban and visit the famed Oban Distillery, and then continue on to visit Loch Lomond & the Trossachs before returning to our hotel in Edinburgh. There will be plenty of free time to explore on your own as well... a full day in Inverness and 2 full days in Edinburgh. Inverness is a city on Scotland’s northeast coast, where the River Ness meets the Moray Firth. It's the largest city and the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. Its Old Town features 19th-century Inverness Cathedral, the mostly 18th-century Old High Church and an indoor Victorian Market selling food, clothing and crafts. The contemporary Inverness Museum and Art Gallery traces local and Highland history. We'll be staying in the heart of the downtown where you can wander out in the morning, eat and drink in many of the fine local establishments, and stagger home at night! Itinerary
June 29, 2018. Friday Day 1 Our overnight Norwegian Air flight D81601 departs Stewart International Airport 9:25 PM and arrives in Edinburgh at 8:55 AM. June 30, 2018. Saturday Day 2 Arrive to the airport in Edinburgh at 8:55 AM and meet our coach and local guide for the short ride over to Stirling. We’ll have the day free to explore Stirling’s old town and the famous Stirling Castle. Overnight at the Golden Lion Hotel in Stirling. July 1, 2018. Sunday Day 3 After breakfast at the hotel we’ll meet our guide and board our private coach for the short ride to Edinburgh and a half day sightseeing tour to get acquainted with the city before checking into our hotel. The rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight in the Edinburgh Hilton Grosvenor. July 2, 2018. Monday Day 4 After breakfast at the hotel we’ll board our private coach and head north to Inverness. Along the way we’ll stop for a tour and tasting at Glenturret Distillery. After lunch (included) we’ll continue north and stop for a guided tour of Urqhart Castle, overlooking Loch Ness. After checking into our hotel in Inverness well have the evening free to explore. Day free at your leisure to soak up the sights and sounds of Inverness, unofficial capital of the Scottish Highlands. Overnight The Palace Hotel. July 4, 2018. Wednesday Day 6 Breakfast served at hotel. Day free at your leisure. Optional tour to Speyside – Enjoy a leisurely day touring the beautiful region of the Spey river with stops at Glenfiddich Distillery, Balvenie Castle and the Speyside Cooperage. Afterwards we’ll head back to the hotel and be free to have dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants in Inverness. Overnight The Palace Hotel. July 5, 2018. Thursday Day 7 After breakfast at the hotel we’ll board our private coach and head west to the coastal town of Oban for a distillery tour and lunch (included). The we’ll head back through the trossachs and take a brief stop on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond in the beautiful historic village of Luss before arriving at our hotel in Edinburgh. The evening is free at your leisure. Overnight in the Mercure Haymarket Hotel, Edinburgh. July 6, 2018. Friday Day 8 Breakfast served at hotel. Day free at your leisure. Optional tour to St Andrews – Enjoy a guided of the the Castle, Cathedral, and the links. We’ll have free time to wander the old town and grab some lunch (not included). On the way home we’ll spot at the pretty little fishing village of Anstruther before heading back to our hotel. Overnight in the Mercure Haymarket Hotel. July 7, 2018.
