Rome The eternal city needs no introduction. The Colosseum, the ancient Roman Forum, The Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the piazzas, the food, the wine and the twisting cobblestone alleys and hidden restaurants of the trendy Trastevere neighborhood on the banks of the Tiber River. After our guided sightseeing tour upon arrival you will have plenty of free time to explore these wonders on your own or join us for one of the optional guided tours. Orvieto Perched on a cliff about an hour north of Rome and accessible by funicular, the town is a classic Umbrian hill town. We'll spend the day exploring all it has to offer. Duomo di Orvieto, dating from 1290, has a mosaic facade and houses a marble Pietà sculpture. The Pozzo di San Patrizio is a 16th-century well shaft with a double spiral staircase. A cool underground cave network attests to the city’s Etruscan roots. Carnival festivities begin in the week leading up to fat Tuesday, Feb 17th. Carnival in Rome, known as Carnevale Romano, is a vibrant celebration with historical roots, featuring parades, masquerade balls, and street performances. It's a time of joyful indulgence before Lent, with a focus on traditional sweets like castagnole, bocconotti, and frappe. Unlike some other carnivals, Rome's celebration is more low-key, with a focus on enjoying the festive atmosphere and delicious food Our Hotel The BW President Rome a well located four star hotel just a short walk to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The main train station and other major sites are all within easy walking distance. Don't feel like walking? The Manzoni metro stop is right out front, making it easy to reach anywhere in the city for just a dollar and change. And guests rave about the breakfast! Explore - We'll also be offering a few reasonably priced and popular guided tour options to Villa Adriana in Tivoli, once the home of the famous Emperor Hadrian, the Vatican Museum, cooking classes and more.
Our Leader I will not be personally leading this trip, and there are few people I would trust to take my place. I've met many tour guides in my decades of leading international trips, and none has impressed me more than Sali from Tbilisi, Georgia. She has become a friend over the years and I know you will be well taken care of. Meet Sali Less is More
I've always said less is more. I like to spend more time in less places to really get to experience a place. There are whirlwind tours available that go to 3 or 4 cities in 7 days and at the end of the trip you wonder what you even saw and need a vacation from your vacation. This is not one of those tours. We do all the heavy lifting and logistics so you have plenty of time to enjoy and explore on your own. Trust me, it's a better way to travel. |
