Croatia has been on my radar for a few years now, and I'm really looking forward to exploring it with you. Miles of stunning Adriatic coastline, beautiful ancient cities and Roman ruins, picturesque ports, beautiful Mediterranean islands just offshore, great food and wine, Croatia has everything you need for a fabulous summer getaway. If you've ever wanted to visit Croatia this is your chance. You won't find a better value!! Especially since June is the beginning of high season... the weather is warm but not too hot and the towns are in full swing! And if your a Game of Thrones fan, much of the series was filmed at various sites we'll be visiting.
Split is a great base to explore the area. A UNESCO World Heritage City for 40 years situated on the Adriatic Sea. It's Croatia's second largest city, a beautiful port town with easy access to the smaller towns and islands up and down the coast. Roman emperor Diocletian's palace still survives in the middle of the old city. Our hotel overlooks the sea and the historic city center is within easy walking distance. Trogir is an easy day trip from Split. The island city with it's medieval stone walls and winding cobblestone streets is a chill mini version of Dubrovnik without the crowds. And it's only about 30 minutes away from Split. Krka National Park runs along the Krka River from the Adriatic coast inland to the mountains of the Croatian interior. It’s a magical place of waterfalls and gorges, with the river gushing through a karstic canyon 200m deep. Awe inspiring nature trails pass by striking waterfalls and the Krka Monastery, built above ancient Roman catacombs. We'll have an optional day trip here from Split. Dubrovnik probably doesn't need an introduction. The Pearl of the Adriatic is one of the most iconic medieval walled cities in the world. If you've ever watched Game of Thrones you'll recognize it as King's Landing. It's known for its striking architecture, medieval walls, azure sea, and beautiful beaches, as well as its rich culture, delicious food, and nearby wine country. Reserve your space! No money due now.
